Federico Lega, italian, is Professor of Public and Healthcare Management, Bocconi University, and Director of the International Master in Healthcare Management, Economics and Policy (MIHMEP) at SDA Bocconi. Since 2005 he’s Adjunct Professor of the Department of Health Services Administration at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA and Research fellow at York University Management School (UK). Currently he’s Chair of the Scientific Committee of the European Healthcare Management Association, jury member of the Porter Prize “superior performance in patient value and doctor led initiatives” and he seats on the Advisory Board of the Care Tank and Center of Healthcare Management of Columbia University, NY, USA.
He advises government, regions, healthcare organizations and medical devices and pharma companies. Both in the Italian NHS (INHS) and abroad. He leads research and training projects in the area of health policy, organizational design and development, clinical transformation. Over the last 20 years he’s been involved in projects all over Italy (Piedmont, Umbria, Friuli, Emilia Romagna, Tuscany, Sicily, Campania, Liguria, Sardinia, etc.) and abroad (USA, UK, Germany, Switzerland, Austria etc.). He conducted numerous workshops and consulting projects with many pharma and medical devices companies (Biogen Idec, Bayer, Sanofi Aventis, Novartis, etc.), hospitals (Humanitas hospital, John Hopkins, Karolinska Hospital, Kings Fund, Milano, Bergamo, Firenze etc) several local health authorities (Bologna, Torino, Palermo, etc.), Regions and health boards (Piedmont, Lombardy, Umbria etc.).
A significant portion of his time is allocated to executive training and he also runs two management academies for neurologists and lab doctors, plus specific programs for top managers and medical directors, as well as customized training initiatives and action-learning programs for healthcare organizations and systems. Author of many books, among others: “Lega F., Organizational design and development for healthcare services, McGraw-Hill, 2005” and “Lega F., Cristofoli D., Strategic Public Management, EGEA 2009”.
